Moringa Drumstick Soup Recipe

A warm bowl of Moringa drumstick soup is great especially when you have cough and sore throat.

This soup tastes delicious and it is super healthy. Drumsticks are rich source of proteins, calcium, iron and vitamin C.

Moringa Drumstick Soup Ingredients:

  • 8-10 Moringa drumsticks
  • 1 medium sized onion (chopped)
  • 1 big tomato
  • 14-16 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tsp full of sugar
  • 1/2 tsp of black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp of ghee?clarified butter
  • 1 tsp full of cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste

Wash the drumsticks well and cut them into long pieces.Put them into a pressure cooker and cover partially with water. Add onion, tomato and garlic.

Cook until one whistle and allow the pressure to release by itself. Open the pressure cooker and drain out the Moringa drumsticks. Reserve the water for later use.

Split the drumstick and scoop out the flesh with the help of a spoon. Add reserved water from the pressure cooker. Blend everything together using hand blender.

Strain the mixture to get nice and smooth texture to the soup. Add more water if required and adjust the consistency. Add sugar, black pepper powder and salt to taste.

Dissolve a tablespoon of corn flour into a little water.

Once the soup comes to a boil, add corn flour mixture. Stir well and allow it to simmer for 10-12 minutes on a low heat, stirring occasionally.

Heat a tablespoon of ghee or clarified butter in another pan. Once heated, add cumin seeds and allow them to splutter.

Switch off the heat and add todka to the soup. Finally add chopped fresh coriander leaves and mix.

Serve warm.
